One of the truly unique Guatemalan experiences is trying out Jorge’s famous rope swing. Jorge and his family live about 15 minutes away from Flores Island and have built a cool series of rope swings for visitors to use to swing out over the lake. The rope swing can be used from platforms of differing heights to deliver the perfect dose of tailored adrenaline, and the clean, cool water of the lake is extremely refreshing, especially on a hot day.Jorge and his family have food and drink available at their onsite restaurant, and you can also arrange for one of the family members to pick you up and take you back using their motor boat. Be sure to stick around for sunset as the sight is truly spectacular. Enjoy a beer, soda, or cocktail lakeside after hours of fun on the rope swing.Jorge’s Rope Swing has no official address but is easy to find on the lake northeast of Flores. You can call Jorge’s family to arrange for transportation or use a public boat or kayak. If you choose Jorge’s family for your transportation needs, give them a call about 30 minutes before you need picked up. The round-trip price is 30 quetzals apiece for two people or 20 quetzals apiece for groups of five or more. The price to use the rope swing is just 10 quetzals.
Chaltunha Hostel highly recommends this tour and can arrange for transportation and even overnight stays at the Jorge family home.
